Hi, I’m Sharon.

Psychologist, body-oriented coach, and yin yoga teacher

I’m deeply fascinated by why we do what we do, what shapes us, and above all: how we can get closer to who we truly are. With my background in psychology, I combine insight with body-oriented work, mindfulness, and yin yoga.

This is my story.

I know how easy it is to lose yourself along the way.

For years, I lived mostly from a place of ‘shoulds’. I worked hard, set the bar high, took others into account, and had become very good at keeping going. I got a lot done, yet at the same time, I drifted further and further away from what I actually felt, needed, and wanted.

Until I reached a point where I could no longer ignore myself. A burnout and a serious car accident brought me to a standstill. Both moments brought me closer to the same question: am I actually still living in a way that truly suits me?

What followed was a process of getting to know myself better and better. Recognizing my patterns, learning to feel my boundaries, facing old beliefs, and becoming more honest about the choices I made. I closed my successful marketing agency. I learned to take my body and intuition seriously again and discovered more and more who I am when I gradually let go of all the expectations, the ‘shoulds’, and the learned patterns.

That period changed so much. In how I live, how I look at myself, and also in how I view personal development. Because although my background in psychology had given me a lot of knowledge about how people think and how behavior originates, I discovered in my own process how much also happens outside of our heads.

And that is exactly where the foundation was laid for the way I now work within Calm.

Who will you be working with?

I am warm and involved, and I find it important that you feel safe enough to put everything on the table.

At the same time, I am also the one who asks further when you’re beating around the bush, names what she sees, and sometimes holds up a mirror that might be a bit confronting for a moment.

I listen to what you say and to what happens between the lines. To the recurring patterns, the moments you make yourself smaller, and the signals your body gives. In doing so, I work intuitively and in tune with you. Sometimes that means a lot of talking and exploring, other times it means slowing down and feeling.

I will never tell you how to lead your life. Instead, I want to help you get to know yourself so well that you feel more and more what is right for you. Because ultimately, that is what I always return to with Calm: learning to trust yourself and living from a connection with who you are.

Why I do what I do.

I know how it feels to keep yourself small, to doubt yourself, and to repeatedly cross your own boundaries. I know what it’s like to be looking for peace, connection, and direction, and then not being able to truly find them anywhere. I know what it’s like to be stuck in limiting beliefs and patterns and how difficult it can be to break them. To lose yourself in unhealthy relationships, with yourself or with someone else.

And I know things can be different. Because I have walked that path myself.

That is why I do this work. Because I want everyone to feel seen, heard, and supported. To get to know themselves better and better and to become freer from everything that prevents them from living in a way that feels right for them.

To lead an authentic and free life, in connection with themselves and with others.

My background & education.

My foundation lies in psychology. I trained as a psychologist and later delved deeper into body-oriented work. In my guidance, I combine these different worlds: the head and the body, understanding and experiencing, knowledge and intuition.

I work with cognitive behavioral therapy, body-oriented coaching, mindfulness, meditation, breathwork, journaling, and systemic work, among others. I also bring my experience as a yin yoga teacher into how I look at the body and the nervous system. Which approach we use depends on you and what is needed at that moment.

Additionally, I am trained in energetic work. That might sound a bit ‘airy-fairy’ or vague to some people, but I believe that everything is energy. That experiences, emotions, and tension don’t just influence how we think and feel, but also what we carry with us in our bodies. With energetic work, I create space for what is stuck or out of balance there, so that energy can flow more freely again. For me, it is yet another way to look beyond just the head and give attention to everything that is going on within you.

For me, good guidance starts with safety and trust. I want to create an environment where you can look at yourself honestly, even when that is sometimes confronting. Where there is room for everything you feel and where I hold up a mirror when necessary. Ultimately, I want to help you understand, feel, and trust yourself better and better, so that you also learn to rely on yourself more and more outside of our sessions.

Some personal facts…

I swapped the Netherlands for Spanish life.

I have lived on the Costa Blanca in Spain since 2026. Sun, mountains, sea, and much more outdoor living: I feel completely at home here.

Bowie, Tommie & Saartje make up my little family.

Bowie is my labradoodle, and Tommie and Saartje are my two cats. They are almost always near me and feel like home to me.

I love everything related to personal development.

I can get genuinely excited about a good book, a retreat, a new training, or a deep conversation. I love to keep developing myself and find it just as important to keep experiencing for myself what I pass on to others.

My morning routine is sacred.

I start every morning the same way: a walk with Bowie (without a phone!), meditation (with ceremonial cacao), and yoga. Starting my day this way gives me a head start for the rest of the day.

For me, working out is also a form of relaxation.

While I find peace in yin yoga and meditation, I can just as much enjoy putting my body to work. It’s precisely that alternation between effort and slowing down that works for me.

Good and nutritious food makes me very happy.

I eat a plant-based diet and love being involved with nutrition and discovering what gives me energy. And yes: that can also include something really delicious.

I need both people and solitude.

I love socializing, meeting new people, and good conversations, but I recharge just as much from time alone. A walk in nature, my journal, or just not having to do anything at all for a while is at least as valuable to me.

I am highly sensitive.

High sensitivity is truly a strength, but it can also be a pitfall. Fortunately, I now know how to handle it well and can use it in my coaching, among other things.

Do you think we’re a good match?

You’ve gotten to know me a bit by now. If my way of looking at things and my guidance suit you, I would love to meet you too. Always without obligation. 🤍
